Asking for help can be tougher than it seems. Asking for help may feel odd. It feels odd to be asked as well, an honor, but odd.
Be judicious with your time, choose your protégés wisely.
You earned your experience and wisdom, likely it was expensive to you in time and thought. Spend it wisely.
The best decisions are never made in the midst of strong emotion (of any kind)
Take the time you need to work through your emotions and come to a peaceful state. Only after you’ve stepped away for a bit can you properly re-evaluate the situation and rethink your decision.
Complain up or sideways (carefully), but never down.
So the old adage applies: with great authority comes great responsibility. As a new leader, you are no longer just representing yourself or a team; you are representing the whole organization.
